Spotlight on Designers

Collaborate With Our Designers

Warm Heart's artisan groups create beautiful handcrafted products, but transforming those skills into sustainable income requires great design, production support, and access to markets.

We work closely with our women's groups by providing product development, production financing, quality control, and marketing.

Today, our collections are sold through boutique retailers in Chiang Mai, international wholesale partners, and directly to customers through our online store.

We're always looking for talented designers who would like to collaborate with us.

Whether you're an established professional with years of experience or an emerging designer looking to build your portfolio, we'd love to explore working together.

Our team can help bring your ideas to life while providing the opportunity to create meaningful social impact.

Your contribution could be as simple as expanding one of our existing collections or as ambitious as developing an entirely new product line.

Together, we can create beautiful, marketable products that celebrate traditional craftsmanship while providing sustainable income and new opportunities for rural women in northern Thailand.

If you're passionate about ethical fashion, artisan craftsmanship, and designing products that make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Bringing Your Designs to Life

Creating a handcrafted collection with Warm Heart is a collaborative process. We'll work with you from your first idea through production, helping transform your concepts into beautiful products that create sustainable income for rural women.

1. Share Your Idea

Send us your portfolio and a brief description of your design concept. Our team will review your ideas and discuss materials, production techniques, and whether your designs are a good fit for our artisans and manufacturing capabilities.

2. Develop Your Collection

Once your concept is approved, we'll work together to source materials, create prototypes, estimate production costs, and prepare your collection for launch.

To cover the initial costs of materials, artisan labor, sampling, and the first production run, we ask designers to make a tax-deductible contribution of US$500. This investment allows your designs to move from concept to reality while directly supporting the artisans who create them.

3. Launch Your Products

Warm Heart will guide you throughout the production process and help bring your collection to market through our existing retail and online sales channels.

If your collection is successful, Warm Heart will finance future production runs, allowing your designs to continue generating income for our women's groups. You're also welcome to purchase additional inventory to sell through your own stores, website, or events.

Have an Idea but Not a Design?

You don't have to be a professional designer to make a difference.

If you have a product idea but need help bringing it to life, our design team can work with you to develop the concept, create prototypes, and prepare it for production.

After reviewing your idea for feasibility, we'll guide you through the design and development process.

As with designer-led collections, a $500 tax-deductible contribution covers product development, artisan labor, materials, prototyping, and the initial production run.

Together, we can transform a simple idea into a product that provides lasting opportunities for women in rural Thailand.

Designer Spotlight - Anna, Macrame Designer

"Watching my necklace design come to life in the hands of local Thai women made every hour of preparation worthwhile."Anna, Volunteer Designer

Image description

My role as a volunteer designer for Warm Heart Worldwide began many months prior to arriving in northern Thailand. After deciding with the microenterprise coordinator that the most suitable product line to focus on would be macramé necklaces, I then developed several prototypes.

Once we had chosen the best style, we then made lots of calculations so that I could source most of the materials before coming to Thailand in the correct qualities, quantities and colors.  Although the advance preparation was extensive and time-consuming, it would become completely worthwhile as I rapidly witnessed my macramé necklace design magically come to life from the hands of local Thai women.

When I finally got here, it first hit me exactly how far I was from my home in eastern Canada.  My initial fear was being unable to communicate because of the language barrier.  I barely knew how to properly say hello in Thai. Luckily I had previous experiences travelling in developing countries, like Guatemala, where I first learned the skill of knotting cord and incorporating semi-precious stones into unique pieces of macramé jewelry.

My very first morning at Warm Heart, I was taken to a home in a nearby village called Maepang with a Warm Heart staff member named Apple who would accompany me for the next two days to translate instructions on how to make my macramé necklace design. (Read full story)
